Retired SPO3 Arturo Lascañas on Monday said he killed at least 200 people by his own hand or by supervising the operations of the Davao Death Squad.

"Sa DDS lang po start with 1989 sabihin natin almost 200," he said.

He said among those he killed were broadcaster Jun Pala, a certain barangay captain Villarte, and a certain Fred Sotto - a former part-time commentator.

A self-confessed leader of the DDS, Lascañas said he did not always pull the trigger in the killings but sometimes acted as operational security.

"Kung minsan yung players namin ang titira. Kami yung supervise o operational security. Hindi naman titira ang players kung walang security," he said.

Lascañas said his first kill was an unintentional killing of a bystander while he was in pursuit of a snatcher as a newbie cop.

He said he was sued for reckless imprudence but got help from then prosecutor and future president Rodrigo Duterte. "Fiscal pa lang si mayor," he said.

He also said DDS players used unlicensed firearms to kill their targets. He said SPO4 Sonny Buenaventura, an alleged trusted aide of Duterte, provided the money to buy the guns.
