MANILA - Police identified Tuesday an "armed and dangerous" suspect in the road rage killing of a motorcycle rider in Quezon City last weekend.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar named the suspect as Fredison "Sonson" Atienza, a high-roller poker player.

Atienza, he said, has 2 guns with expired registration documents and was deemed dangerous.

The suspect, who was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser on Saturday, quarreled with motorcycle rider Anthony Mendoza after they figured in a near-collision at the corner of D. Tuazon and Quezon Avenue.

Minutes into their heated exchange, Atienza, without getting out of his vehicle, fatally shot Mendoza on the head.

QCPD verified his identity based on CCTV footage of his car plate.

Policemen went to his house but only found his wife and daughter there.

Eleazar urged Atienza to turn himself in before he is cornered by an ongoing manhunt operation. -- Report from Jeff Hernaez, DZMM
