Rains and low temperature will dampen parts of the country on Valentine's Day, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

PAGASA meteorologist Samuel Duran told radio DZMM that a cloud cluster was looming near the Philippine area of responsibility and may become a low pressure area.

Cloudy skies with light rains are expected over Metro Manila and the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Calabarzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao and the provinces of Aurora and Mindoro.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, meanwhile, prevail over the rest of the country.

Duran said the country will continue to experience cold weather due to the amihan or northwest monsoon.

The temperature in Metro Manila may drop to as low as 19.4 degrees Celsius Tuesday, he said.

The cold amihan season typically lasts until the first week of March.
