MANILA - A magnitude 4.9 earthquake rattled Surigao del Sur province on Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor struck at around 10:19 a.m. Its epicenter was located 20 kilometers southeast of Marihatag town, Phivolcs said.
With a depth of 16 kilometers, the quake was felt at Intensity 2 in Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur.
Intensity may cause hanging objects to swing slightly, said Phivolcs. No major damage was expected from the quake, which was also unlikely to spawn aftershocks, the agency said.
