CEBU - A South Korean man died in a parasailing accident in waters off Olango Island in Cebu province on Tuesday, police said.

The man and his wife fell into the water after the line linking their parachute to a speedboat snapped off.

They were later found in Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.

They were rushed to the nearest hospital but the man was declared dead on arrival. His wife, meanwhile, remains in critical condition.

The couple allegedly insisted on doing the water activity despite a gale warning from state weather bureau PAGASA.

The owner of the dive shop who escorted the Korean couple has yet to cooperate with the police regarding the incident, investigators said.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
