MANILA - Cellphone signals will be cut off in Iloilo City during the Dinagyang Festival, mobile phone service providers said Friday.

PLDT-Smart and Globe Telecom will temporarily suspend mobile phone services in Iloilo City from January 21 and 22, 2017.

The areas covered by the service suspension are Iloilo Dinagyang Festival area, city proper, River Esplanade, Iloilo Business Park, SM City Lapaz and Mandurriao.

According to the mobile networks, the suspension of coverage was instructed by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the interest of public safety.
