Three police officers who allegedly assisted SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel in the kidnapping of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo are now under restrictive custody, the Philippine National Police said Wednesday.

PNP - Anti-Illegal Drugs Group Director S/Supt. Albert Ferro said these personnel under his unit are now placed under restrictive custody as ordered by PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa.

Dela Rosa revealed Monday that Sta. Isabel surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation and sought voluntary protective custody at the agency after he was linked to the kidnapping of South Korean businessman, Jee Ick Joo.

Jee went missing in Angeles City, Pampanga last year. According to the results of the investigation given to the South Korean government, Jee was strangled to death on the same day of his abduction.

NBI Task Force Against Illegal Drugs Director Roel Bolivar said an informant called them Monday evening and told them that the victim's remains were brought to Gream Funeral Services in Bagbaguin, Caloocan on October 18.

Although the NBI failed to find Jee's remains in the funeral parlor on Tuesday, five embalmers and assistants confirmed that the Korean's body was brought to their funeral parlor around 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. of October 18.

They are now in the custody of NBI as they may be able to say what had actually happened to the victim.

Ferro said if the cops are found guilty, they will be discharged from service and will be administratively charged. He added, if they are "further involved in the criminal side," they will be prosecuted by the court.
