MANILA - Three people were wounded in an explosion in Tacurong City on Tuesday afternoon, two hours after vice presidential candidate Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo visited the city.

Authorities said an improvised explosive device (IED), placed under a car in front of a bakeshop along Jose Abad Santos Street, went off at around 2 p.m.

Three people, identified as Freddie Tumindeg, Pepito Patricio and Arniel Pawaon, sustained minor injuries in the blast. They were brought to the Sandig Hospital and Garingo Hospital for treatment.

Robredo was in Tacurong this morning for the city's celebration of the Feast of Señora de la Candelaria.

Robredo arrived at 9:30 a.m. and left at 11:20 a.m. bound for Cotabato City.

In a statement, the Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential candidate condemned the explosion and called on authorities to speed up the investigation.

Police said they retrieved components of the IED, such as black powder and nails, at the site of the blast.

Police have yet to identify the suspects and the motive behind the explosion.
