MANILA - The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Thursday called on the public to disregard text messages warning about bombs allegedly planted in malls in Metro Manila.

"The Armed Forces of the Philippines reminds the public to disregard text messages warning of bomb threats or improvised explosive devices (IEDs) allegedly planted in major shopping malls in NCR (National Capital Region)," it said in a statement.

"These are mere misinformation," it added.

The AFP urged the public not to forward such text messages to friends and loved ones so as not to create unnecessary fear.
