MANILA - A huge fire has struck the Faculty Center building in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Also known as Rizal Hall (Bulwagang Rizal), the Faculty Center houses most of the department offices of the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) and faculty rooms of CAL and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP).

According to UP Diliman-based student publication Tinig ng Plaridel, fire gutted down the west wing of the Faculty Center, facing the side of the CAL building.

Philippine Collegian, UP Diliman's official student publication, reported that the fire alarm has reached "Task Force Alpha," one level above the fifth alarm, according to SF04 Jose Felipe Arreza of the QC Fire Department.
