MANILA - A trailer wing van caught fire along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City early Sunday.

The van was supposed to deliver junk food from Libis district to Marilao, Bulacan.

A motorbike rider informed driver Manny Segundo that smoke was coming from the van's rear portion at past 5:30 a.m.

Segundo stopped the truck in front of the Ateneo de Manila University campus and discovered that flames have engulfed their cargament.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze at 6:07 a.m.

The driver and two porters of Leavilla Trucking escaped the incident unscathed.

Some P100,000 worth of junk food, however, were damaged by the blaze.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the fire but the driver suspects it was caused by the van's electrical wiring.

The incident caused heavy traffic at the area. -- Report from Dennis Datu, radio dzMM
