Reports said the fire started at 9 a.m. at the house of an Esperanza Cruz in Isla San Juan, Barangay 34.

Residents heard an explosion from a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank inside the house. Cruz sustained serious burns on her body and was rushed to the hospital.

The blaze, which quickly spread to adjoining houses made of light materials, reached third alarm and raged for over an hour.
