Executives from social networking giant Facebook have met with the communications team of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, as they seek to livestream the inauguration ceremony.

Elizabeth Hernandez, head of Facebook Public Policy for Asia Pacific met with incoming Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar to discuss details on the upcoming inauguration.

Facebook is "reaching out to the communications team of the incoming president to offer its support in using its online platform for the historic occasion."
It said Andanar was joined by Presidential Spokesperson Ernie Abella, Mr. Paul Dominguez, media executive and blogger Nic Gabunada, and business development director John Carlo Tria.

Andanar earlier revealed on ANC's Headstart the possible streaming of all official events starting with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's inauguration, and it was confirmed by Facebook.
"Apart from the inauguration, Facebook is also keen in helping the new administration use its site for the governance part of the 16th Philippine president, noting the high level of engagement among social media users in last month’s elections."
