MANILA - The public's satisfaction with the performance of the Aquino administration dropped in the first quarter of 2016, according to the the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The survey, conducted from March 30 to April 2, 2016, showed a drop in the net satisfaction rating of the Aquino administration from +39 in December 2015, to +35 in April 2016.

SWS used face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults nationwide, with 300 each from Metro Manila, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The survey has an error margin of ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

SWS classifies net satisfaction scores of +70 and above as “excellent”; +50 to +69 as “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”; +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; as well as -70 and below as “execrable.”

The Aquino administration's net satisfaction rating in Metro Manila dropped from +36 to +17, from +35 to +30 in Luzon and from +36 to +33 in Mindanao. It went up from +52 to +58 in Visayas.

The national government's satisfaction among members of economic classes A, B, and C, likewise, dropped from +23 to +17, and from +39 to +32 in class D.

Those from class E seemed to be more satisfied with the Aquino administration, with ratings going up to +46 from +44.

The public gave the government a "good" rating on issues of helping the poor, foreign relations and promoting the welfare of OFWs.

It got a "moderate" rating on the issues of protecting consumer rights, defending the country's territorial rights, planning government programs, providing jobs and restoring peace to Mindanao.

It got a "neutral" rating on fighting terrorism, fighting crimes, reconciliation with Muslim rebels, rehabilitating areas damaged by conflict in Mindanao, ensuring that no family will ever be hungry, eradicating graft and corruption, reconciliation with Communist rebels and fighting inflation.

The Aquino administration also recorded a high of +43 on the issue of helping the poor, up seven points from +36.

In a text message, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma said the Aquino administration is grateful for the support given by the public.

"The Aquino administration did its best to transform Philippine society on a platform of good governance. More importantly, Filipinos have adopted a can-do attitude in lieu of their erstwhile feeling of hopelessness. President Aquino is grateful for the support extended by the Filipino people throughout his incumbency."
