Duterte and Robredo were officially proclaimed winners of the 2016 Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections after topping their respective races in the final tally of the Joint Canvassing Committee of Congress sitting as the National Board of Canvassers for the country's highest positions.

Duterte won in 117 of the 167 certificates of canvass. Rivals Mar Roxas took 27, Grace Poe took 17 and Jojo Binay won 6.

Robredo won 56 CoC's representing big voting populations, Bongbong Marcos took 87, Alan Cayetano took 22 and Chiz Escudero took 2.

"Pursuant to the mandate of the constitution and in compliance with pertinent laws, the joint committee conducted the canvass bound by a single purpose-to ensure that the results reflect the will of the electorate and that the mantles of leadership over the republic are entrusted indubitably on those whom they have freely chosen as president and vice-president of our Republic," Gonzales said.

Still, ABAKADA Rep. Jonathan dela Cruz, an ally of Senator Bongbong Marcos, said while he disagrees with the NBOC, he is sending his congratulations to the winners.

Senator Sonny Angara, a member of the Joint Canvassing Committee, said it Duterte's attendance was not necessary.

"Well, it's not a requirement. I think many proclamations at the local level even at the Senatorial level you saw not all the Senators went to the proclamation. The decision is for the candidates to go. And he said he never been to his proclamations in Davao," he said.
