MANILA - The Senate has rescheduled the January 25 reopening of the investigation into Mamasapano clash to January 27.

Senator Grace Poe, who heads the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, said they rescheduled the hearing to January 27 in deference to the commemoration activities of the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) troopers killed in the clash.

She said this is also to ensure that invited guests from the PNP will be able to attend the hearing.

Poe earlier said she is personally not inclined to reopen the investigation because the committee has already submitted its report.

In its partial report released in March 2015, the panel said President Benigno Aquino III was ''ultimately responsible'' for the botched mission to neutralize Malaysian bomb maker Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and his Filipino cohort Basit Usman.

All 21 senators have agreed to reconvene the Mamasapano probe following the call of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile who said he has new evidence about the operation. -- Report from Adrian Ayalin, ABS-CBN News
