Filipinos online can now get weather forecast and reports, as well as science stories from The Filipino Weather Channel, a site supervised by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The broadcast, which was shown to media during a press conference, can be viewed via the official website (http://www.dostv.ph) and is also mirrored via www.science.ph, one of DOST’s information portal for students and teachers.

The stream can also be followed via the DOSTv YouTube account.

Among the first videos shown is a short feature called “Unos” (storm in Filipino), which follows the lives of people living in a permanently flooded area.

Two more videos showcase DOST’s provincial programs.

Incidentally, the DOST previously announced that among the first videos they would show was a feature of the Diwata-1 microsatellite, which was launched last April 27.

DOSTv is produced by the DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII). Plans of its creation was made as early as 2013 and was originally a 24/7 weather information cable TV channel for the DOST’s weather bureau, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). -- Alexander Villafania, ABS-CBN News
