MANILA -- (UPDATE) The husband of model-host Joey Mead King, businessman and car enthusiast Ian King, surprised netizens with a special announcement on social media on Saturday.

On Instagram, Ian came out as a trans woman and is now using the name Angelina Mead King under the new Instagram handle @hailtothe_queen_. Her previous handle was @hailtothe_king_.

In her latest post on Sunday, she said: “So much love and support I can't even believe how amazing everyone has been. It's hard to keep denying yourself your own truth so now this is me. Thank you so much everyone!”

Angelina also shared a picture of her and Joey where she called the model her “rock and number one supporter.”

Angelina’s announcement was met with praise and support from his family and friends.

Among those who left a comment on his post were Joey herself, Bianca Gonzalez, Rajo Laurel, Mark Bumgarner, Iya Villania, Aubrey Miles, Cesca Litton, Alma Concepcion, and Bubbles Paraiso.

"Love is love," said Joey.

The other celebrities, meanwhile, said they are inspired by Angelina’s courage to come out, as well as Joey’s love for her.

“Be free Angelina and @joeymeadking. Proof that love wins, love always wins,” said Litton.

“Words cannot express how inspiring this,” Gonzalez said as she tagged both Angelina and Joey.

“I’m sure you’re the happiest person on earth now. Keep on shining.. happy for you both.. proud of your wife.. she’s amazing,” said Concepcion.

Angelina's brother Atticus, for his part, shared a photo of them where he introduced his "new" sister.

"Here's a pic with my former kuya who is now my ate. Meet my new sister Angie," he said.

Meanwhile, Angelina thanked everyone for their love and support following her announcement.

“What's a dream, I couldn't sleep from being so happy! Thank you to everyone for the love and support. You can't imagine what kind of weight has been lifted off my heart. I am excited to see you all soon,” she said.

They were married in November 2011.
