MANILA – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach took to social media to formally welcome her new roommate in New York, Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber.

In an Instagram post shortly after the Miss USA 2016 pageant, Wurtzbach said she is looking forward to getting to know Barber, an army officer who hails from the District of Columbia.

“I can’t wait to meet you and finally just chill and get to know you,” she said, addressing Barber. “Welcome to the family.”

“I secretly hope we have the same taste in music as I tend to turn my speakers up.”

On Tuesday, Barber and Wurtzbach said hi to fans before heading to New York in a post on the Instagram page of Miss USA.

Before Barber was crowned, Wurtzbach shared her New York apartment with Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan, who finished second runner-up in last year’s Miss Universe pageant.

The two became emotional during the Miss USA 2016 pageant as they bade farewell to each other.

“Goodbyes are never easy. Olivia, I will miss you tremendously. Thank you for being my Miss USA and for always being confidently beautiful and confidently you,” the Filipina beauty queen told Jordan.

Replying to Wurtzbach’s post, Jordan said: “Goodbyes really are the hardest part. I miss you already, Queen P. I’m so grateful for the past six months I got to spend with you. Thank you for inspiring me and always keeping it real.”
