MANILA - Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach warned fans on Saturday that a poser on Facebook was making it appear that she was praising the late strongman, Ferdinand Marcos.

The 26-year-old beauty queen posted a screenshot of the fake account to her 2.3 million followers on Instagram.

"Again. Not me. Please, people! I do not talk like this. You should know me better," said the New York-based Wurtzbach, the third Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown.

Wurtzbach did not endorse any candidate for the May 9 elections. Instead, she had asked Filipinos to pray for a clean and peaceful balloting.

As of writing, the fake Facebook page is still active, with more than 650,000 followers. The handlers of the page described themselves as a "page created to support the reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach."

The post Wurtzbach called out has been deleted. However, a scroll down the page's timeline revealed that it had shared blog posts about criminal activities in the country and presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte.

An example of the Facebook page in question using Wurtzbach's name to forward political agendas.

This is not the first time Wurtzbach had to appeal to netizens to stop using her name in political campaigns. Last April, she raised the alarm over another page bearing her name for conducting a poll asking Filipinos to choose between Duterte and rival presidential candidate, Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

Wurtzbach clarified that her fans on Facebook can follow her activities through the official account of Miss Universe, which is verified and has more than 6 million followers. She also has an official Twitter account and an Instagram page.

NOT THE ONLY ONE

Wurtzbach is not the only celebrity to cry foul over fake social media accounts. Actress Alma Moreno, who lost the senatorial race, reported a parody Twitter account. The account has since been suspended.

"Masyado naman ako pinaglalaruan. Masyado naman ako binabastos na. Masakit," she admitted in an interview with radio hosts Jobert Sucaldito and Ahwel Paz on DZMM's "Mismo" last Thursday.

Nadia Montenegro, in an interview with TV Patrol, also revealed that she has been receiving vile comments after a fake Twitter account posing as her shared malicious posts against Duterte.

"I can't wait to know who this person is! Galit na galit ako sa kanya! How can somebody wake up ang ruin somebody's life! It's so evil!" Montenegro ended her tirade.
