MANILA – Kylie Verzosa took to social media on Tuesday to share what she calls her favorite photo after being crowned Miss International 2016.

“Last but not the least: My favorite, after, picture,” she wrote as the caption of her second selfie with President Rodrigo Duterte during the tree lighting ceremony at the Malacañang Palace grounds on Monday.

Verzosa was among those invited to the event.

The photo generated mixed reactions on social media. Many fans were happy to see the country’s newest pageant winner rubbing elbows with the President.

“You’re not chasing him anymore. That’s one legit Miss International and President selfie,” one netizen commented.

“Love you both, bring honor and pride to our country,” another Instagram user noted.

Others, however, were disappointed with Verzosa’s fondness for Duterte, who has been criticized for allowing the burial of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

“Nice to take selfies with murderers,” one wrote.

“Sad you had to post this picture with that caption. I thought you were better than that,” another added.

Verzosa first had a selfie with Duterte, who happened to be in Japan for an official visit, days before she competed in Miss International 2016.

Her selfie with the President was considered by many as a “lucky charm.” It can be recalled that in 2013, Bea Rose Santiago scored a selfie with then President Benigno Aquino III in Japan and eventually won the Miss International crown.
