MANILA - The University of the Philippines (UP) is back on the list of top 400 universities, according to London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)'s annual rankings released on Tuesday.

UP placed 374th this year, up from within the 401-401 bracket last year, making it the only Philippine institution in the top 400.

Three other Philippine universities made it on this year's list: Ateneo de Manila University (501-550); De La Salle University (701+) and University of Santo Tomas (701+).

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) retained its spot as the top-ranked university on the list for the fifth consecutive year, followed by Stanford University and Harvard University.
