BAGUIO CITY -- Being on vacation doesn't exempt Roman Catholics from practicing Holy Week traditions such as the Visita Iglesia.

If you're Baguio City for Holy Week, there are several churches for you to visit while enjoying the cool climate and the fresh scent of pine trees and highland flowers.

Here are some of the churches you can check out:

1. Our Lady of the Atonement Cathedral

Our Lady of the Atonement Cathedral, better known as Baguio Cathedral, is strategically located at the city's most popular street, the Session Road. The towering cathedral is now 80 years old, surviving several disasters including the deadly 1990 Luzon earthquake.

2. Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Church

Just beside Burnham Park stands the humble Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Church. This newly reconstructed church is one of the favorite wedding venues of Baguio residents, since it is near to the town proper but not as congested as the Baguio Cathedral.

Apart from its beautiful altar, the church also houses a replica of the Grotto of Lourdes in France. Its construction was ordered by former first lady Aurora Quezon in 1939.

3. St. John Bosco Parish

Amid the busy streets of Trancoville, there is a place of peace and quiet -- the St. John Bosco Parish.

The facade of rose-colored church bears the Latin phrase Domus Dei et Porta Coeli, which means "The house of God, and the Gateway to Heaven."

4. Immaculate Conception Parish

After your trip to Trancoville, you might want to head to Aurora Hill and check out the Immaculate Conception Parish.

The modern-designed church stands along the edge of Ledesma Street, Aurora Hill. It gives you a perfect view of the city, and a fresh breath of fog in the afternoon.

5. St Aloysius Gonzaga Parish in St. Louis University

Located inside Baguio City's biggest university, St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish is a new church and hub for students who pray for their final exams.

6. Adoration Convent of the Divine Mercy

In the pine-filled Brent Road, you will find an all-pink church named Adoration Convent of the Divine Mercy. It is owned by the Pink Sisters, who are known for their "pink habits." The church is near the city's famous restaurants, such as Grumpy Joe, Rose Bowl, Mamitas, and the Hill Station in Casa Vallejo.

7. St. Joseph the Worker Parish

Just a stone's throw away from Wright Park is the St. Joseph the Worker Parish Church. Although not as big as the Baguio Cathedral, this church is equally stunning. It has huge stained glass windows and a charming altar, perfect for prayer and meditation.
