The couple was scheduled to tie the knot at the Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Taysan, Batangas on Saturday afternoon when a powerful earthquake struck.

The quake, which was felt in parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces, caused fear among the wedding guests resulting to a temporary halt of the ceremony.

In a phone interview with ABS-CBN News, Vital said dust from the church ceiling started to fall near the altar just as the couple took their seat.

"I was near the back of the church and the ground started shaking, I saw the whole church shake and a pretty large amount of dust from the front altar started to fall, all of us we're in shock and started to run out the church, it was a pretty good 15 seconds of earthquake," Vital detailed further in an email.

He said wedding guests then started to rush outside fearing that the church would collapse.

Despite the earthquake, the couple insisted on continuing the wedding. The couple accepted the offer of church organizers to prepare a makeshift garden setup at the grotto outside of the Church.

Vital described the couple as unmindful of the recent earthquake as they made their promise of love to each other.
