MANILA -- There will be no Filipinos in the roster of judges for the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, the Department of Tourism said.

According to Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo, the Miss Universe Organization is in charge of choosing the judges for the pageant.

"Walang Filipino. Gusto nga sana namin sa Presidente (Rodrigo Duterte) eh, pero wala talaga. Hindi pwede. Kasi let's say ang nanalo is from the Philippines, sasabihin nilang lutong Macau," she added.

She also said they have no idea yet who the judges will be, except that some of the judges are former beauty queens.

"Some of the judges are former beauty queens abroad... Miss Universe, 'yung mga nanalo," Teo said.

The Miss Universe coronation night will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 30.
