DAVAO CITY - Incoming president Rodrigo Duterte said Sunday he would skip his own proclamation, initially scheduled on Monday.

Duterte told reporters he might send his lawyers to the proclamation at the House of Representatives. He assumes office on June 30.

"I’m not attending any proclamation. I’ve never attended any proclamation in my life . In all of my political aspirations, nanalo naman ako," the Davao City mayor said.

"Sabi ko nga baka God would want me to taste defeat but it never happened," he said.

Duterte garnered 16,601,997 votes in the final and official tally, edging closest rival, former interior minister Mar Roxas, who got 9,978,175 votes.
