MANILA - Supporters of vice presidential candidate Sen. Bongbong Marcos are calling for a vote recount, one day after the elections.

Around 8 p.m. Monday, #RecountVP started trending on Twitter (Philippines and worldwide) with at least 115,000 tweets.

Marcos' supporters are questioning the way their bet was overtaken by his closest rival, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo. Marcos' son Sandro tweeted #RecountVP.

Since the closing of voting period, the public has been relying on the data released by the Comelec Transparency Server. Congress has yet to start canvassing the official result of the vice presidential race.

According to the partial and unofficial results, as of 10:44 p.m. Tuesday, Robredo is leading with 13,799,582 votes, followed closely by Marcos with 13,568,468 votes.

In a text message to ABS-CBN News, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said they cannot issue an official statement since there is no official request of recount yet from Marcos' camp.
