MANILA - Religious leader Apollo Quiboloy said Saturday Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's stunning rise to within a heartbeat of the presidency was foretold in a vision from God, nearly two decades ago.

Quiboloy, who leads the Davao-based Kingdom of Jesus Christ, told hundreds of thousands of supporters gathered in Manila's main park that he saw a vision of Duterte playing golf in the presidential palace 18 years ago.

"Sabi nila, killer daw siya, destroyer or life. Ako lingkod din ng disks. Sino destroyers of life, drug lords rapists. Ano ginagawa ni Mayor Duterte? He destroys the destroyers of lives," Quiboloy said.

Quiboloy said he was prepared to contribute billions to Duterte's campaign as well as lend him his jet to help him win Monday's vote.
