Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres "Andy" Bautista has urged netizens to be discerning and not believe everything posted online.

This, amid claims posted on social media that there were discrepancies between the content of the voter’s receipt and actual vote of Filipinos abroad who have participated in the overseas absentee voting.

The poll body chief warned against manipulated photos posted by several groups who he said have different agenda.

“That’s the problem, it’s all allegations at this point, what we’re hoping is really that real evidence is presented to us, and that’s why perhaps we can tell also our netizens to be careful about A, the type of information being circulated, and B, don’t believe everything that you read,” he told ANC's Beyond Politics Tuesday.

He noted, none of the consular posts have reported such cases and that they have not received any formal complaint.

The poll body will welcome formal complaints, provided that enough evidence are presented.

“I haven’t seen any formal complaint, but we would welcome formal complaints but please make sure that the evidence is really there so we can look into it, because this is a very serious allegation,” he said.
