QUEZON CITY - A simple ceremony, a Tagalog speech and guests who may wear tsinelas (slippers). These and more are just some of the things that one can expect during the inauguration of Vice-President-elect Leni Robredo on June 30.

In a press conference, Robredo transition team head Boyet Dy said the vice-president's inauguration ceremony will be held at Quezon City Reception House between 9am until 10:30 am on June 30, Thursday.

He said the decision to hold the inauguration in the Quezon City Reception House follows the example set by President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

"Minabuti nating 'sundan' ang ginawa ni President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, na nagpasyang gawin ang kanyang inagurasyon sa Malacanang kung saan sya mag-o-opisina," he said.

The Quezon City Reception House will also serve as the incoming VP's office, he noted.

Since the venue can only accommodate 300 guests, the vice-president will have a thanksgiving gathering at the Quezon City Memorial Circle on June 30 after the inauguration.

Dy said a multi-faith service will be held prior to the program of the VP's inaugural ceremony. The program will begin with a flag-raising ceremony that will be attended by representatives of different sectors.

The national anthem will be sung by the Payatas Children's Choir and the oath will be presided by Barangay Chairman Rolando Coner and Chairwoman Regina Celeste San Miguel.

After the oath-taking, Robredo will deliver her speech, which will last about 10 to 15 minutes.

Dy was asked about the details of the event, such as the budget of the ceremonies, who will make Robredo's dress or the color of the dress, what's on the menu, who are on the guest list, and the dress code, but he could not provide additional details.

He said he still has to get the answer from people working on the nuances of the event.

"Napakalinaw po ng guidance at ng bilin ni Vice-President elect Robredo na tiyaking simple and modest as much as possible yung magiging okasyon," said Dy.

He noted that most likely, even people who are wearing their slippers (tsinelas) will not be turned away from the occasion.

JOINT INAUGURATION

Dy also said the Robredo camp is still open to a joint inauguration with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte next week.

"Kami po malinaw from the very start that we would take our cue from the office and from the camp of President-elect Duterte with regard to the preparation of the inauguration.

"Kung magkaroon ho ng abiso, talagang palagay ko, we will still take our cue and make that if that will be their preference...We will adjust accordingly."

Incoming Palace communications secretary Martin Andanar earlier said the inauguration of President Duterte will be held at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall of Malacañang on June 30.

He said the Rizal Hall can only accommodate about 500 guests, which is why the President-elect's camp believes it would be better for Vice President-elect Leni Robredo to have a separate inauguration.
