The line-up for the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival, to put it mildly, is quite different from previous years after it has merged into one category the independent films and mainstream movies.

Among those snubbed were OctoArts Films International's "Enteng Kabisote 10 and The Abangers", Regal Films' "Mano Po 7: Chinoy", and Star Cinema's "The Super Parental Guardians".

Like before, the movies will hit the theaters on December 25, but its awards night will be held on January 8, 2017, after the festival closes.

On Saturday, the stars of the entries will begin the countdown to the festival at Skydome at SM City North EDSA. Admission is free.
