MANILA - When Ferdinand Acapulco signed up for work in Saudi Arabia, he said he was promised that he would earn enough to send his four kids to school.

However, following the unfortunate collapse of the company which hired him, he was left with absolutely nothing.

And as Christmas approaches, the Laguna-native, who spent four years stranded in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, at times scavenging in garbage heaps for food, said that his only wish for the holidays is a plane ticket so that he could be with his family again.

"Minsan kasi nahihirapan na sila, kakahintay sa akin," Ferdinand said. "Nagsasabi nga sila sa akin na, 'Tay, titigil na ako sa pagaaral.' Sabi ko naman sa kanila, 'Huwag muna. Baka sakaling makauwi tayo."

Together with ABS-CBN and The Filipino Channel, "Ang Probinsyano" star Coco Martin helped him reunite with his wife and children last week.

Acapulco, almost in tears, said: "Ito ang pinakamasayang Pasko ko."

Touched with Acapulco's story of sacrifice, Martin said: "Ang hangarin ko po sana ngayong Kapaskuhan, kahit isang Pilipino, makatulong po ako at makapagpaligaya po ako ng isang pamilya."
