MANILA - Will it be the same scenario here in the Philippines?

Some 12,000 tickets, with prices ranging from S$78 to S$298, for Coldplay's concert in Singapore next year were sold within an hour. The tickets, intended for Citibank cardholders, were put on sale early Thursday, four days ahead of the planned general public sale on Monday.

The presale was intended to run until Saturday.

In a report by the Strait Times, Live Nation Lushington managing director Michael Roche called the demand "unprecedented." He, however, added that some 26,000 tickets are still available over two days (on Sunday for another presale and on Monday).

Hours after the first batch of tickets were sold, several sellers on resale sites such as Carousel and Viagogo started listing Coldplay tickets for 10 times the cost price, the Strait Times report furthered.

Coldplay's Singapore performance, their fourth, will the be the first leg of the band's Asian tour, which will also include a stop in Manila.

The Chris Martin-led group will perform in front of their Filipino fans for the first time at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Pasay City. Ticket prices range from P1,800 (General Admission) to P22,500 (VIP).

The prices, as well as the venue, were met with some criticism. A petition online was started asking organizers MMI Live to hold the concert at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan, a open stadium that can hold up to an estimated 20,000 people, instead.

MMI Live's Rhiza Pascua, however,seemed to downplay these suggestions on her Twitter account, writing: "MOA is what was already picked by all the parties including the artist. We need to respect that."

Reservations for the first batch of tickets, exclusively via Globe, will begin on Friday, 9 a.m. Reserved tickets will then be available to pickup on Sunday. For more information, visit the official social media accounts of Globe and MMI Live.
