Two young Filipinos captivated the judges in their individual performances during the Blind Auditions of season 5 of "The Voice Spain" and made it to the Battle Rounds.

It was a full house for 23-year-old Philippine-born Liam Cloud.

The guitarist and songwriter did not even need to finish the first line of "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys as three out of the four judges dashed to press their buttons.

Not long after, the fourth coach turned around, seduced by his style and soulful rendition.

Liam was discovered by "The Voice" talent search groups through his music in the Internet.

They invited him to join the casting. He was thrilled to be spotted through his music, but felt reluctant to join the contest and therefore declined the invitation.

But after his second contact with them, and consistent urging from his friends and family, Liam finally gave in and decided to make his music reach millions of TV viewers.

"My experience in 'The Voice' was strange. I didn't even want to be in the show. But it happened, and it was such a great experience. I met so many great musicians of Spain and my coach, Pablo Lopez, is just amazing. He's amazing as a musician and a person. He taught me, he made me feel comfortable and more confident with my voice, so I learned a lot," he said.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Mariz Molina sang Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now."

Coming from "The Voice Kids" four years ago, Mariz got emotional as the same coach who vied for her then turned around to include her in her team.

She was suffering from cough during the rehearsals and the actual performance, and had her hopes down to the ground.

But her coach, Malu, pressed the button at the last second.

"I'm really so happy to get in the auditions because I wasn't really expecting to qualify out of the 15,000 applicants for the show. Just the fact that I got in is already a great privilege and a really great honor because I am here to represent the Filipino talent," Mariz said.

Both Liam and Mariz have grown up with music as their way of life, and are active faces in Filipino community events.

"It's pretty much my life. I live and breathe with it. I teach guitar to kids and adults, I play concerts every month. I sell my music that I have online. I have an album on Spotify and Itunes... Yeah, music is everything," Liam told ABS-CBN News.

Mariz, for her part, said: "I was just 15 when I joined 'The Voice Kids.' The coaches and production team were very supportive. They treated you like really special kids, teaching everything you needed to know. In the adults, it was time to grow up not just in voice quality but also in personality. But I also learned a lot because I was with new people, new coaches and crew, and new challenges."

Liam and Mariz have to sing their way during the Battle Rounds to secure a slot in the next phase of the competition.

Catch on with their journey and stay tuned for more updates from ABS-CBN Balitang Global.
