WATCH: Jake Zyrus performs ‘duet’ with Charice

A definite highlight of Jake Zyrus' concert Friday night was when he sang a duet with a recording of Charice singing "Before It Explodes."

Zyrus said that the performance, caught on video by ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe, was a tribute to his past self that opened so many doors for him to be able to pursue his dreams.

"Before It Explodes" is a single off Charice's 2011 album, "Infinity." It was composed by Bruno Mars, and is about letting go of a person you love.

After he came out as a transgender man, Zyrus said that he knows not everyone will agree with his decision to shun his past as Charice.

Nevertheless, he said that he's happy with his decision, saying that he now feels more comfortable performing.
