The full trailer for Empoy Marquez's new movie, "The Barker," has been released — and it is promising to be a quirky ride that involves your usual uptown girl trope mixed in with a kidnapping subplot.

The clip begins by introducing Marquez's character, Koko, training to be a barker for jeepneys. He then meets beautiful Bela, played by Shy Carlos. They fall in love, but she then gets taken away by her father.

Fast-forward a bit and Bela finds herself kidnapped and Koko is now busting out some of his hidden action moves to save her.

The trailer has been well-received by Empoy's fans, with more than 150,000 views in just over an hour after being uploaded online. "From comedian to leading man to action star," wrote one in the comments.

The movie is directed by comedian Dennis Padilla and slated for release on October 25.

It is Empoy's follow-up to "Kita Kita," the top-grossing indie movie in local box-office history, which he topbilled with Alessandra de Rossi.
