MANILA -- Lauren Reid, the sister of actor James Reid, denied on Wednesday that she has something to do with the breakup of celebrity couple Gab Valenciano and Tricia Centenera.

Lauren was among the four celebrities named in a report by entertainment website Pep who were allegedly spotted with Valenciano. The others were cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao, model Dani Camcam, and Issa Pressman, sister of actress Yassi Pressman.

The entertainment website said it has reached out to the four women and noted that Pressman has denied links to Valenciano, while Reid refused to answer.

In an interview with ABS-CBN's Gretchen Fullido and other reporters on Wednesday, Lauren said that there is no truth to the insinuations.

"Well, that's a shame to be honest... but I guess it comes from being in showbiz," Lauren said.

According to Lauren, she only met Valenciano twice through his sister Kiana, who happens to be her friend. "I really don't know Gab very well," Lauren stressed.

She added that the reason her name was mentioned is "because I'm probably relevant at the moment and it's something to make the story have more flavor."

"Sorry to the writer but it's unfortunate that they had to do that," she said.

In separate interview, James also came to his sister's defense, saying "that's not true."

Over the weekend, Centenera stressed in an interview with ABS-CBN News that she is not the unfaithful one in the relationship.

Last August 30, Centenera posted on Twitter that she is “rebuilding, because I don’t tolerate cheaters.”
