Jake Zyrus shows off acting chops in 'MMK' episode

Jake Zyrus showed off his acting chops on “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” which featured his life story on Saturday.

In the episode, he brought to the screen the struggles he faced coming out as a transgender man.

He revealed that he learned of trans people when he came across the life of Chaz Bono, son of American singer Cher.

Viewers as well as some members of the LGBTQ community flooded social media with messages of support for Jake Zyrus, as the episode trended on Twitter.

The hashtag #MMKJakeZyrus was a top trending topic on local Twitter while Charice Pempengco, his former identity, landed in the top 9 topics.

Dina Bonnevie took on the role of the singer’s mother, Racquel Pempengco, with Sharlene San Pedro and Mutya Orquia playing the younger versions of Charice.

"MMK" first featured Jake's life in 2008 when he was still known as Charice.
