MANILA -- (UPDATE) Pioneering showbiz columnist and talent manager Alfie Lorenzo has passed away due to heart failure. He was 78.

This was confirmed to ABS-CBN News by his nephew Ramon Lorenzo. He died at 2:14 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Lorenzo’s remains will lie at the Arlington Memorial Chapels in Quezon City Tuesday night.

His family also confirmed that they will hold a wake in Pampanga.

Actress Judy Ann Santos, Lorenzo’s former ward, will take charge of the talent manager’s funeral arrangements.

On Instagram, Santos said they are "coordinating the wake details with the family as we would want to be faithful to his last requests."
