MANILA - A nine-year-old kid from Las Piñas is still in the running to become the grand winner of the third season of "The Voice Kids" after winning his battle round on Saturday.

Peter Vallejos went against Batangas native Carmela Lorzano, 7, and Parañaque-born Saisha Rae Masirag, 7, for a spot in the next round. The trio sang a high-pitched cover of Sampaguita's pop rock hit, "Bonggahan."

Vallejo's coach, Lea Salonga, praised him for his intensity, adding: "At hindi ka nagsesentonado. Kasi minsan sa rehearsals nangyayari eh. Pero today, congratulate yourself."

Salonga picked Vallejo to move on to the "Sing-Offs."
