MANILA – Jessy Mendiola is grateful that Luis Manzano has cleared her name on allegations that she was the reason behind the TV host’s breakup with his long-time girlfriend Angel Locsin.

At the sidelines of her FHM press conference on Tuesday, Mendiola stressed that she had no hand in the separation of the two.

“Dapat naman talaga niyang sabihin 'yun kasi totoo naman [na hindi ako third party]. Grabe naman, I wouldn’t ruin a relationship. Kapag nangyari 'yun sa akin, baka magpakamatay na lang ako. Pero hindi talaga [ako third party]. Thank you sa kanya na sinabi niya 'yun,” she said.

In a recent interview, Locsin admitted that she has yet to move on from her failed relationship with Manzano.

Asked how she feels that Locsin is still hurting, Mendiola said: “I don’t think I should really comment on that. Iba naman 'yung sa akin.”

Husband material

Meanwhile, Mendiola was bold enough to say that she thinks Manzano is "husband material." However, she emphasized that they are only enjoying each other’s company for now.

Asked if she has already met Manzano’s family, she said: “Wala pang ganun. We just go out. Parang ginagawang sobrang big deal. It’s two people who are single. We hang out, we have fun with friends so I don’t see anything spectacular about that na sobra sobra.”

Mendiola said they have been friends for a long time now but it was only in September last year when she got embroiled in a controversy involving Enrique Gil that she and Manzano got closer.

“Kapag nag-a-ASAP ako, parati siyang nangangamusta. Palagi kaming naglolokohan as friends. Siya 'yung tipong friend na ang tagal-tagal mong hindi nakikita pero kapag nag-uusap kayo about life, ang dami niyong napag-uusapan, nagca-catch up kayo. Siya 'yung ganun. Naging mas close kami of course yung not so good incident last year,” she shared.

Having been single for a while now, is she ready to finally enter into a relationship with Manzano?

“I don’t know. We’ll see,” she briefly said.
