Richard Merk and wife undergo therapy.

MANILA -- Entertainment couple Richard and Roni Merk had a much-publicized physical ordeal that happened early last year when he got into a car accident that left him in a debilitating condition.

The jazz singer's right foot was nearly amputated, if not for a diabetic wound expert who saved it. Still, he was bed-ridden and immobile for a year. He even gave up performing, much against his will.

“It’s my faith in God that sustained me through all those difficult times,” Richard said. “I kept the faith and believed that I could walk again. My doctor greatly helped me and my wife stood by my side constantly.”

Meanwhile, Roni underwent colon surgery that sidelined her from engaging into any physical activity for several months. She also had to wage a battle against the Big C, but is now cancer-free.

“God has a perfect plan for all of us,” Roni said. “He kept Richard and me alive. It was really a miracle.”

The couple, who cannot be more thankful for their second lease on life, are currently undergoing Medsonix Acoustic Resonating Therapy, a non-invasive and drug-free method of relieving pain that was introduced into the country by Ateneo Graduate School of Business professor, Enrique M. Soriano, early last year.

In fact, Roni said she has received positive feedback and inquiries from her Facebook post after only their first session.
