MANILA - After being named the "sexiest woman" in the country, actress Jessy Mendiola confirmed a new film project that will give her a chance to prove that she deserved the title.

Mendiola, who beat Nadine Lustre and Jennylyn Mercado in the online poll, revealed that the upcoming Star Cinema movie will be "more sensual" than her previous outings. It will also reunite her with "You're My Home" leading man, actor JC de Vera.

"Wala naman masyadong preparations kasi I've worked with JC na rin," explained Mendiola, referring to their roles as lovers in the late night drama. "Pero it’s very different from our last project. Very sensual siya and very romantic."

"Medyo serious pero may kaunting sundot lang din ng comedy pero more on sensual drama romance siya," she added.

According to Mendiola, she never thought her onscreen tandem with De Vera will be received well by fans. "Siguro natuwa 'yung mga tao sa aming dalawa kasi 'yung working relationship namin, sobrang comfortable lang namin sa isa’t isa."

"Hindi ko nga alam kung paano nangyari 'yun. First time daw niya maka-receive ng ganung feedback sa mga tao na sobrang tanggap and sobrang warm 'yung mga fans.

"Nagkaroon din kami ng maliit na fan base, napansin ng mga tao tapos sunud-sunod na. Na-excite rin kami na we are given a new film. Hopefully magkaroon kami ng iba pang projects together," Mendiola said.

Asked if there is romance brewing between her and De Vera, Mendiola shared that she is happy with her current relationship with the actor as close friends.

"We are happy na ganito, how things are right now. We know na maraming opportunities, maraming priorities so very far sa isip namin yung magka-develop-an kaming dalawa.

"Kung iisipin niyo, if you’re partners or love team kayo sa isang project tapos mahahaluan pa ng feelings, parang medyo awkward kapag hindi nag-end up ng maayos. Mas iniiwasan na lang muna namin yung ganun kasi nga masaya kami kung paano ang mga bagay bagay ngayon," she reasoned.

Mendiola's last romantic relationship was with actor JM de Guzman. The two broke up due to conflicting priorities. She was also romantically linked with host Luis Manzano, but has since denied the rumors.
