His acting debut is heavily anticipated by fans.

And Atom Araullo's enigmatic character in "Citizen Jake" has finally been introduced in the first teaser for the Mike de Leon film.

Released Friday on Facebook, the short clip sees Araullo, as a journalist named Jake Herrera, deliver a brief monologue suggesting he holds a vile perception of local politics. It also reveals that the movie is set during the country's election period.

"Citizen Jake" is said to be the comeback film of De Leon, whose body of work includes critically acclaimed obras like "Kisapmata," "Batch '81" and "Sister Stella L."

It also marks Araullo's first stint as an actor. In a previous interview, said he was surprised that De Leon approached him for the part.

"Siyempre nakakagulat kasi hindi naman talaga ako professional actor but dahil si Mike de Leon 'yon at kilala ko siya at alam ko ang dati niyang pelikula -- I am also a fan -- I agreed to a meeting and then they explained what was the project all about," he said.

"It's a risk. It's something I haven't done before but I don't think it's an opportunity I can let go of or I can reject because it's a once and a lifetime thing," he added.

"Citizen Jake" also stars Luis Alandy, Gabby Eigenmann, Lou Veloso, Nonie Buencamino, Victor Neri, Alan Paule, Raquel Villavicencio, Malu de Guzman, Ruby Ruiz, Nanding Josef, Anna Luna, Richard Quan, Teroy Guzman, Max Collins, Cherie Gil and Dina Bonnevie.
