Before he starts work on his "Panday" movie, Coco Martin on Thursday visited the Manila North Cemetery and paid his respects at the grave of Fernando Poe Jr.

In a clip he shared on Instagram, the actor could be seen lighting candles and offering a minute of silence for the late industry icon, who was the first to popularize the legendary blacksmith character.

Afterward, Martin checked out some filming locations for his "Panday" project, which he plans to release at this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. He will both be directing and starring in it.

In a previous interview, Martin said he wants to make his foray into directing having been inspired by Filipino greats such as Mike de Leon and Lino Brocka.
