MANILA – Sarah Lahbati was caught off guard when her partner Richard Gutierrez surprised her with a bouquet of flowers during the premiere night of her movie “Ang Pagsanib Kay Leah dela Cruz” on Monday.

In an earlier interview that night, Lahbati said she understands that Gutierrez cannot grace the event because it coincides with the airing of the pilot episode of “La Luna Sangre,” his first project as a Kapamilya talent.

Lahbati, however, could not help but smile when she saw Gutierrez walking up to her.

“Buong araw ako nagda-drama kasi sabi ko, bakit kasi sabay 'yung ‘La Luna’ at 'yung premiere night ko. Tapos sabi ko it’s okay. It’s both our big night and I’m very happy for him. He needs to watch it because he’s part of it and he plays a big role, I’ll just focus on my movie and watch the pilot episode online,” she said.

Gutierrez, for his part, kept grinning after he successfully surprised Lahbati.

“Ang alam niya nag-aayos ako ng gamit sa bahay. Bihira ko kasi siya ma-surprise kasi magaling ito. Kapag may surprise ako, alam na niya. Pero ngayon, mukhang nakuha ko 'yung surprise,” he said.

“I’m very proud of her. I know how passionate she is. I know how hard she worked for this film. It’s the type of film that an actor will really be proud of. Sarah is very proud of this movie. I’m excited,” he added.

Although it will be a very busy year for the two of them, the celebrity couple is grateful that a lot of opportunities are coming their way.
