Kris Aquino is aware that she is in great shape, and having recently undergone a beauty therapy, felt particularly confident about her looks as she attended the media launch of her comeback film, "I Love You, Hater," on Monday.

"May pinapatunayan ako," she said, when a reporter commented that she looked radiant. "Meron akong gusto makanood nito at magsisi. Hindi ako kumakain minsan, tinitiis talaga, dahil ang greatest motivation ng kahit sinong babae is to make those who made you feel that you are not good enough to regret their mistake."

Reacting to the suggestion that she had a "revenge body," Aquino disagreed, saying, "It's 'beauty na hindi na sa 'yo.'"

Aquino, 47, did not hesitate when teased she should take off her blazer to show her figure. She proceeded to do just that with a mention, finally, of who she was pertaining to.

"Hashtag Mayor, this is what you're missing," she quipped, referring to Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, with whom she has had a tumultuous relationship.

Earlier in the press conference, Aquino was also candid in mentioning the name of the actor-politican, when she took her turn to answer whether there's a person who she loved and hated at the same time, in reference to her movie's title.

"The Mayor. Si Mayor HB," she said. "Nasabi ko na, 'Kaya kong i-give up ang pagiging Kris Aquino para sa 'yo, and yet kulang pa rin 'yan para sa 'yo.' Sabi ko, 'If the man who never says sorry, who is President Duterte, nagpaabot sa akin ng sorry, bakit ikaw hindi ka nag I'm sorry sa akin?'"

Aquino was alluding to the President reaching out to her through Special Assistant Bong Go early this month, in relation to her online feud with Palace communications official Mocha Uson.

Sharing what Bautista told her in response, Aquino said: "'Mag-usap tayo nang harapan.' Ang sinabi ko, 'Para ano pa?'"

The audience, as well as her co-stars Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia, teased that meeting Bautista was to give her "closure." Aquino appeared unconvinced, however, saying, "Sa movie may closure, sa totoong buhay hindi sa 'yo binibigay ang closure."

"Siguro until now may galit, and until now siguro nagagalit, kasi until now, mahal," she said.

Aquino was then asked who between her and Bautista said "I love you" last. Pausing to gather her thoughts, she then answered: "If I answer that, he'll deny it, that's why I will not answer that. Ilang beses niya ba akong dineny?"

In a huddle with reporters after the media launch, Aquino clarified that she and Bautista have managed to remain friends. She did admit, however, that she was recently hurt by his actions, and that to this day, Bautista somehow makes her feel that "there is something wrong with me."

"We did," she said, confirming they recently went out together, "and I thought I was okay with that, but I was not okay with his reaction."

She explained: "Sinabi ko sa kanya, 'Bakit uncomfortable na uncomfortable ka, kahit magkaibigan na lang tayo ngayon? Bakit uncomfortable ka na pinapansin tayo?' May isyu ako about that. There's a part of me that feels he wasn't proud of me."

Despite this, Aquino stressed that "we're not enemies, and he knows I will never be his enemy."

"He also knows na I will forever be grateful, kasi when nobody was there, and when everybody thought I would be nothing, he went out of his way to make sure na makatayo ako," she said, referring to her career being affected by a tense political climate.

Aquino recalled talking with Bautista: "Kinailangan tanungin ko, 'Ginawa mo ba 'yun because you cared, o ginawa mo ba 'yun dahil feeling mo may atraso ka sa akin?' Sinabi niya, 'All of the above.'"

In part, the actress said her decision to stop seeing Bautista was how their being involved romantically could affect his political career. Aquino noted that her last name is a "divisive one," especially under the current administration. She had told Bautista that it would be ill-advised for him to continue being with her, in light of a potential future in higher office for him.

The other reason, Aquino shared, had something to do with how Bautista made her feel. "I'm already in an okay place," she explained. "Siya lang 'yung nakakapagparamdam sa akin na may mali sa akin. For me to not feel that, I have to not talk to him. Kasi why will I continue to entertain that, when it took so long — it was a two year journey — to get here (showbiz comeback) again?"

She concluded: "Kung sa personal, may gano'n pa akong nararamdaman... There are just some people na kailangan mo lang mahalin from a distance. Hindi na ako naniniwala sa 'somewhere down the road.'"
