The following is a transcript of ABS-CBN News reporter MJ Felipe's exclusive interview with Liza Soberano, who confirmed on Tuesday that she will be wearing the iconic Darna costume for an upcoming film adaptation by Erik Matti.

The young actress talks about the pressure of upholding the legacy of the popular komiks character, who has been portrayed by the likes of Angel Locsin, Vilma Santos, and Marian Rivera, as well as the intensive training she will undergo in preparation.

MJ Felipe: Noong una mong nalaman na ikaw ang gaganap na Darna, ano ang una mong naramdaman? Anong pumasok sa isip mo?

Soberano: Sobrang na-excite po ako and siyempre, I'm happy and I feel really honored to be able to don the iconic costume and to be able to embody what she represents.

Felipe: After the excitement, ano iyong sumunod?

Soberano: Medyo nervous. Siyempre, iyong expectations ng mga tao, I want to be able to please. But of course, at the end of the day, you can't please everyone. And ang gagawin ko na lang po is I'll give my more than 100 percent best sa project na ito.

Felipe: Did you ask around, 'Should I accept this?' May mga kinunsulta ka ba?

Soberano: Siyempre, automatically 100 percent gusto ko talaga. Pero of course, kasama ko naman po ang management ko, si Tito Ogie (Diaz) and of course, Star Magic to guide me through the decision making.

Felipe: Anong klaseng training ang gagawin mo?

Soberano: I will undergo functional training, which is working out at the gym lang nagpapalakas po. And then eventually, I'll have stunt training, dance workshop para sa timing and gracefulness kapag gumalaw. And then I think I'll have acting workshops again, as well as dialogue training. ...I want to look physically strong and capable of doing the stunts.

Felipe: Have you watched the other Darna movies?

Soberano: I haven't. I've asked Direk Erik Matti if I can. Pero he told na huwag muna. He wants me to go through the acting workshops and stunt training first before I watch the other movies para hindi din ako ma-influence ng ibang films. And then from there, ia-adjust na lang po kung anong kailangan.

Felipe: How will this affect your career from this on forward?

Soberano: I don't know yet but I see it in a very positive way. I'm pretty sure this will open more doors for me and I hope -- parang iyong genre kasi nung film, people will become more open to it as well. ...I also feel like it will help me not only career-wise but also as an actor, I hope na mas marami pa kong matutunan lalo."

Felipe: Will you focus on this first? Hindi ka muna tatanggap ng ibang projects muna?

Soberano: Well, so far, I'm also working on another one pero I think I'm going to focus on the shooting of the movie first and then get back to that other project.
