MANILA -- Singer Gary Valenciano, who is now recuperating after undergoing heart surgery early this month, misses being on ABS-CBN's variety show "ASAP."

But while he still can't perform on the show, Valenciano agreed to a a live phone interview with "ASAP" on Sunday.

"Pinapanood ko kayo diyan, parang miss na miss ko nang tumapak sa entablado ng 'ASAP,'" Valenciano said as he assured his fans that he is now on the road to recovery.

"Yung kalagayan ko ngayon, nakikita niyo sa video, unti-unti akong lumalakas pero I want to thank everyone, including everybody at ABS-CBN," he said.

"Gusto ko lang sabihin sa inyo na 100% ay sinasagot ang mga prayer at panalangin because I'm really feeling good, I'm feeling stronger and stronger every single day."

As a sign of gratitude, Valenciano promised to one day write a song.

"One of these days, siguro gagawa ako ng kanta bilang pasasalamat sa lahat ng prayers, lahat ng support. It's really incredible na mabasa ko 'yung mga sinusulat, 'yung mabasa ko ang cocnerns ng lahat, but I'm doing okay," Valenciano said.

In a previous Instagram post made just days after his surgery, Valenciano assured his fans that he will return to "ASAP."

Aside from "ASAP," Valenciano is also part of "Your Face Sounds Familiar" and "Tawag ng Tanghalan."
