MANILA – “This is not the end but only a chapter that has come to a beautiful close.”

These were the words of Filipino-American singer Francisco Martin after he finished in the top 5 of the 18th season of “American Idol” on Sunday (Monday in Manila).

Describing his journey as an “amazing experience overall,” Martin flashed a smile in his first Instagram post following the West Coast airing of the all remote live finale.

“Still, I’ve got this smile on my face. I’ve grown so much as a human and as an artist throughout these few past months and I’ll never forget that. I’ve met a great deal of life long friends, unforgettable memories and have gained the support of all you beautiful souls,” he said.

As a person dealing with anxiety, Martin said it was a great deal for him that his fans have accepted him for who he truly is, and have supported him throughout his “American Idol” journey.

Martin also said that “to be able to have inspired many of you to follow their dreams is something I never thought would’ve happen in a million years.”

The 19-year-old crooner then went on to thank all his supporters and invited them to travel with him onto the next chapter of his life.

“There’s a ton of room, don’t be shy. Grab a seat (if you’d like to). See you soon loves,” he said.

During the last episode, judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan expressed how proud they are of Martin for coming a long way.

Just Sam, who was the only girl in the top 5, was crowned the winner of “American Idol,” defeating Arthur Gunn, who finished as the runner-up.
